Congratulations Class of 2023

A summary of the results achieved by our 2023 VCE cohort.

I would like to share with you a summary of the results achieved by our 2023 VCE cohort and send my sincere congratulations to all. We are extremely proud of the excellent overall VCE results, which included many outstanding individual and subject scores.

It is important to remember that these results are a culmination of the teaching and learning and educational support across six years at the college, working in close partnership with the love and care provided by families and friends.
Thank you to the Senior Sub-School team, led by Allira Howe and Glenda Hanslow who have provided great support to the students. Our teachers and educational support staff have also worked tirelessly to provide the best possible outcomes for our students during the year.
The cohort achieved a median study score of 32, which should be celebrated  as this incredibly challenging year draws to a close.

  • Congratulations to the 2023 College dux, James Lonnen who achieved an amazing ATAR of 99.35.  James attended Koonung from Year 7 to 12, was the 2023 STEM Captain, active and passionate member of the College’s music program, keen Chess club member (and medallist at this year’s State championship). James will move into a Science degree at University of Melbourne in 2024 and explore his passions in either organic chemistry or pure mathematics. Congratulations James, we are all proud of you.
  •  9% of students achieved ATAR scores above 95 (Top 5%)
  •  25% of students achieved ATAR scores above 90 (Top 10%)

We have spoken with each of our Year 12 students to touch base and ensure they had the support and careers and course advice they require.  Overwhelmingly they were happy and proud of their achievements with clear paths for next year and beyond. It is timely to remember, however, that each of our Year 12 students has learned a great deal about life and themselves and this ATAR number is only a very small part of that journey.  We are extremely proud of all of our students and would like to publically recognise their hard work and resilience and wish them great success in their future endeavours.
